Testrite Hardware is Made “Rite” For Safety

2020 has brought safety to the forefront of everyone’s mind, and, at Testrite, we have taken safety seriously since our beginning in 1919. We have 101 years of experience sourcing the finest quality components and designing products with safety and performance in mind. Each of our products goes through rigorous testing, and a final quality assurance inspection occurs during the final assembly prior to packing.

Safe Design

Every day we are asked to design new products that have never been made before. When we’re told how an item will be used, we evaluated each of our potential approaches for safety and manufacturability before quoting. As an example, we may suggest a larger base is needed for an item going into a high traffic area. In other situations, we may suggest a thicker or larger diameter tube than we were asked for to ensure sufficient stability. In rare cases, we will even pass on a project, which while it’s feasible to construct, we wouldn’t feel safe having our families around it.

“As an OEM manufacturer, if we’re given a print, we can manufacture to the print. In most cases though, customers come to us with objectives and design challenges, and we build safety into our review process for these custom concepts.” Jeffrey Rubin - President

One example - we found that while it wasn’t designed for outdoor use, some customers were using our popular A Frame SignHolders outdoors. While they may have been partially adequate for that use, they could tip over in windy conditions. We therefore designed a new version of the A Frame SignHolders specifically for outdoor use:

  • Steel weights in each leg help increase stability
  • Angled rubber feet reduce tipping
  • Shorter legs to lower center of gravity
  • Stiffer and heavier steel crossbars replace folding aluminum stays

These design features result in a sign holder that can withstand much more wind safely. While we recommend bringing the sign inside during severe weather, it has been proven to remain stable even when faced with a 150 MPH rated leaf blower.

Recently we’ve also designed products with flame retardancy in mind. Our Clear Room Partitions have become essential since the pandemic, protecting teachers, cashiers and other professionals. Not only do these shields aid in preventing the spread of coronavirus, but they are designed to safely handle a fire should one occur in the area. They do not catch fire or combust, which prevents further spread of the fire. Instead, the material melts and is self-extinguishing.

In addition to our visual display products, Testrite also manufactures aluminum telescopic tubes and accessories made to order. Having manufactured camera tripods for decades, we have a lot of experience in the metal manufacturing arts and are constantly building on what we’ve learned to bring you safer, more innovative products.

Our tubing features

  • Locks that provide stability and strong structure.
  • Stops and overlaps that provide bearing and keep legs from pulling apart.
  • Longer overlaps for extra long assemblies that can provide extra bearing.

We take our product safety seriously and provide solutions that prioritize quality and performance.

COVID-19 Solutions

In addition to the safety built into the design of our products, we also provide products that specifically aid in making the world a safer place during this coronavirus pandemic.

We have a variety of hand sanitizer station alternatives, which are vital to providing customers with sanitation solutions throughout your building.

As mentioned previously, we also have shields to protect against the spread of germs. In addition to the hanging shield, we have cashier shields, free-standing shields, rolling shields (great for teachers!) and classroom partitions.

Testrite is right here in the U.S., and we make everything here and ship from our warehouse in Hackensack, NJ. This means there’s no waiting for products to come from overseas, and we can provide custom solutions.

We take safety in the design, manufacturing and testing of our products seriously, so you can be assured you’re receiving the highest quality available. Contact us today!
